Michael McNerney is a civil engineer with his Ph.D. in Airport Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. He is a former Air Force research civil engineer and pilot with 3000 flying hours. He was an airport consultant for AECOM where he developed a geospatial airport pavement evaluation and management system for Denver and Tampa Airport. He retired from the FAA Office of Airports as the manager of the Airport Engineering Branch and manager of airport geospatial data. As an independent consultant he works with Silent Falcon UAS in getting FAA approval and as the QA/QC of all the pavement distress data. He has reviewed photogrammetric PCI distresses for over 300 airports and has three papers published by the American Society of Civil Engineers on using UAV for airport pavement inspection.
Dr McNerney is an Adjunct Professor at The University of Texas at Arlington where he teaches Airport Engineering and Airport Operations courses under the civil engineering department. He also teaches airport short courses at UTA including Airport Pavements
